Artful Thursday- Paper Pumpkin Girls
My very favorite holiday is Halloween. And although I am in no rush for the holidays to come, I find myself thinking of fun things to make for this magical holiday. Earlier this spring I found the cutest Halloween cross stitch pattern. A sweet pumpkin girl with a quirky cat. I don't cross stitch but I purchased the pattern anyway knowing I would turn the art it into a paper doll. I thought I could just whip her out but she took just a little longer than I thought. The hardest part was painting the face. I didn't care for the face on the pattern so I had to come up with my own face design. In the end I think she turned out pretty cute. But my question is- hair or no hair? I can't decide which I like best!
There are so many fun Halloween papers to choose from. I loved putting together the paper outfits.
My quirky cat!
The details are always the most fun in creating paper dolls. I purchased this tiny skull last year from Stampington and Company. I used ribbon and tulle to add a little whimsy to their dresses. I used black glitter from my BFF- Martha Stewart's products.
I thought a little Halloween Giveaway was in order since I was a complete DUD and missed last weeks Artful Thursday! Leave a comment and tell me which way you like the paper doll- hair or no hair. I will pick a winner next Friday when I make my Artful Thursday Post.
And since we are talking about Halloween

Happy Artful Thursday

Oh my gosh, Lorraine, it's so hard to decide because I like your pumpkin girls both ways. Well, I guess, for Halloween we should go with the hair.

Oh Lorraine how do you expect me to choose. The one with hair looks a little like me in the morning.hehe They are just darling. What a clever girl you are to see the crosstitch and then alter it into your own creation.
I just had to come by and thank you for the lovely comment you left me. Thank you for your words...they warmed my heart.
hugs to you

Hi Lorraine,
Love your sweet Halloween doll and how cute she is with her little cat.
They are both really wonderful and I suppose you could also add a little hat. The black glitter and the skull stamp are fabulous.
Happy week

These are so fun! I think I like it better without the hair. There is something so fabulous about that rain drop head shape! I love it and I think it stands alone really well!

dearest lorraine...
am i the only one who noticed that spooky witchy girl with the mane looks exactly like she stole her "do" from rufio?
how perfect! was she your inspiration?
these are perfect in a wondrful scary halloweeny sort of way.
but my vote goes to the "rufio" mop!
absolutely.
i too love halloween...but maybe it.s just because it.s in the FALL and i am in total lust with all things FALL.
you are incredibly clever and artsy...especially on thursdays!
loves,
c

Love the paper that you used on the dresses if I had to choose between that I would not be able to . As far as hair vs no hair I"ll go with no hair she is a little more scary. Have fun creating all your Halloween treats.
